REQUEST FOR ENGINEERING SERVICE PROPOSALS

Abbeville County School District is seeking the services of an engineering firm for the following project: Bus Parking Lot Expansion at Dixie and Calhoun Falls High SCHOOLS. Firms interested in performing these services shall submit a letter of interest and 2 copies of resume listing qualifications and performance data in similar projects to: G. Samuel Jones, Facilities and Operations Director at Abbeville County School District, 400 Greenville Street, Abbeville, SC 29620, telephone (864) 366-5427, fax (864) 366-8531. All inquires shall be received on or before 3:00 PM Friday, May 4, 2007.

QUALIFICATIONS: Proposals will be accepted from engineering firms that are licensed by the State of South Carolina and that can demonstrate experience in the design and fast tract completion of similar asphalt parking lots.

Scope Of Work shall include but not be limited to the following specific task:

1. Perform investigative survey of the site and adjacent properties as required to establish design criteria and establish project budget.

2. Prepare specifications, drawings and bid documents for asphalt parking lots and fencing at Dixie High School and Calhoun Falls High School, include sufficient detail to ensure that the completed projects meets the expectations of the owner.

3. Submit specifications and drawings to the Office of School Facilities (State Department of Education) for approval, if required.

4. Coordinate relocation of existing public utilities that may be required with the appropriate utility companies.

5. Assist the school district in receiving bids for the expansion of the existing bus parking lot at Dixie High School now and for a new parking lot at Calhoun Falls High School in the summer of 2008.

6. Conduct periodic inspections during construction and final inspection for approval.

Based on responses received, the following factors will be used to evaluate and select an A/E firm to complete the project:

1. Past experience of the firm in successfully completion of similar design work.

2. The ability of the firm to “Fast Track” the project and complete the design work including all drawings and bid specifications to complete and close out the first phase of the project by August 1, 2007.

3. Reasonableness of price for services. Fee negotiations shall be for a fixed fee per project site.

4. Assurance that the design firm is qualified to provide requested services in accordance with the Owners plan and schedule.
